Effective Pathways Microsite

A Tremendousness Project

I was one of the interactive designers who collaborating with InsightfulEd on Effective Pathways — a national study asking a deceptively simple question: Which K-12 CTE pathways are students actually pursuing and completing, and do those pathways lead to the outcomes states and employers expect?

Our challenge was to transform a dense policy dataset into an engaging, intuitive digital experience that would help users make sense of the findings.

My team and I explored different approaches to the interactive map, testing ways for users to filter and compare state-level data. We also developed a visual framework to explain the metrics behind the map, helping users understand what was being measured and how to interpret the findings.

Once the user experience was established, I designed all components and visual elements within the pages. The visual direction was clean and sophisticated, with subtle background linework guiding users through the content and creating a sense of continuity from section to section.

The result is an interactive, user-friendly microsite — turning a dense policy dataset into something clear, navigable, and persuasive.

Through its 50-state readiness map and visual framework, Effective Pathways equips education leaders, policymakers, and advocates with a clearer view of the findings to inform their decisions and advance meaningful change.
